Chinese restaurants have long been a part of American culture. There is hardly a town in America without one Chinese restaurant. And Chinese food is already considered to be a fast food in some restaurant settings, take Panda Express as one prominent example. In the past, Chinese restaurants were on the low end of the restaurant scale. Now there are Chinese restaurants of all types, for all budgets and represent many types of Chinese regional foods. Before, most Chinese restaurants served Cantonese food because many of the original Chinese immigrants to the US came from the southern part of China, near the city once named Canton. Now there are Chinese food from all parts of China and people can now enjoy a greater diversity of Chinese cuisine.
